يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسة لأهم ملامح الجغرافيا الطبيعية لسلطنة عمان من خلال منهج متكامل ليكون بين يدي الباحثين و الدارسين في أقسام الجغرافيا، وليساهم بصورة خاصة في زيادة وتعميق الحصيلة العلمية لطلبة الجغرافيا، بالإضافة لكل مهتم بجغرافية سلطنة عمان، وببيئتها الطبيعية. كما يتناول الكتاب بالتفصيل الركائز الرئيسة للجغرافيا الطبيعية لسلطنة عمان من حيث خصائص الموقع الجغرافي وتداعياته وانعكاساته الطبيعية والبشرية.ثم ينتقل إلى مناقشة تنوع البنية الجيولوجية لسلطنة عمان التي ترسم الإطار العام للتضاريس وأشكال سطح الأرض والثروات المعدنية. ومن حيث الخصائص المناخية فإن الكتاب يركز بصورة رئيسة على الكتل الهوائية التي تتأثر بها السلطنة وتأثيراتها في تنوع وتباين الظواهر المناخية في السلطنة، ثم ينتقل الكتاب بعدها إلى مناقشة الجغرافيا الحيوية للسلطنة بالتركيز خاصة على توزيع الفصائل والأجناس والأنواع النباتية، مع الاهتمام بالضوابط التي تؤثر على هذا التوزيع، كما يهتم الكتاب في فصله الأخير بالموارد الطبيعية المتاحة في السلطنة و سياسات المحافظة على الاستدامة البيئية.

ABSTRACT The book offers a study of the most important features of physical geography of the Sultanate of Oman through an integrated approach. This book is devoted to researchers, students in the departments of geography, and large public to deep their knowledge about the physical geography of the Sultanate of Oman, and its natural environment.
The book deals in detail the main pillars of the physical geography of the sultanate of Oman in terms of geographical location and its repercussions on physical and human systems. Then moves on to discuss the diversity of the geological aspects of the Sultanate of Oman which sets the general framework of the topography of the country and its mineral wealth. For the climatic characteristics, the book focuses mainly on the atmospheric mechanisms that govern the synoptic aspect of the climate of the country and the diversity of the local climates. The Biogeography of the Sultanate of Oman is detailed in this book, with an emphasis on the geographical distribution of fauna and flora species and the factors of this distribution. The last chapter of the book gives an inventory of the natural resources and the strategy of the Sultanate of Oman for the sustainability of the environmental resources.
