الاستاذ: د. سالم بن محمد الحتروشي

الوصف الكامل
Rangeland degradation is one form of desertification that has been accelerating in deferent parts of the world, particularly in the arid and semi-arid regions. The Sultanate of Oman is located in the arid region of southwest Asia. Dhofar Mountains, however, has rich and unique natural pastureland produced by the southwesterly monsoon rain that prevails during the summer months. Until recently the Jabali herders of Dhofar Mountains and the ecology of the rangelands had been in ecological balance with each other. However, this balance has been upset recently by the massive socio-economic development. This paper investigates the rangeland potentials of Dhofar Mountains, and the physical and human factors that participated in rangeland degradation with more emphasizes on the rainfall variability
