Abstract
The thesis consistsof five Chapters preceded by an Introduction about The importance of the Topic, reasons for choosing, its objectives, previous studies, approaches and methods, studysteps and its problems. the thesis ended with conclusion that includes the abstract, results and recommendations reached by the study
The first chapter deals with the stages of the of food Industries in Al Gharbia Governorate , the characteristics of each stage and determining the factors affecting the development of the Industry in itthese stages were divided into five stages which are the first before 1900, the second between 1900-1951, third between 1952-1973, the fourth between 1974-1990 and the fifth between 1991-2017. and the factories ownership differ at each stage of thestages, so some times the private sector prevailed and controlled and some timesit was for the public counter part according to the economic policy followed at the time.
The second chapter deals with the geographical distribution of food Industries in Al Gharbia Governorateatthe level of the public and private sectors further more the structural distribution of food Industries and depending on four variables: the number of factories, employment, investments and the value of production in order to determine the realistic geographical image ofIndustry and map the Industry to it in the governorate determine its main centers, determine its most important sectors and Industrial structures, measure its Industrial concentration and geographical expansion and determine the strength of Industry and the relativeimportance in the governorate.
The third chapter examines the Industrial location of food Industries in Al Gharbia governorate and identifies. the major and minor factors that helped in settlement of factories in their current locations such as: rawmaterials, labor, market place, transport, energy, investments, land area, water and Industrial sewage, environmental pollution, personal and historical considerations, governmental policy, management and Industrial coherence as well as patterns of Industrial settlement and its direction which is divided into there potters they are: factories whose settlement is not sound and factories whose settlement was sound at the beginning and the development of urbanization around them and must be resettled.
The fourth chapter includes the structure and sizes of food Industries in AL Gharbia governorate on the level of the public and private sectors, the Industrial structures and defining the economic, technical and social condition under which these factories operate inorder to clarify their impact on the variation in The sizes of factories and to show their production capacity, costs of production and its prices inorder to identify the various deficiencies in them. the most important factors affecting the size of food factories in The governorate are: wars, rawmaterials, the market, investments, vertical integration, back and forward linkage and the diverse gathering. This chapter also deals with small Industries and their role in the economical development of Al Gharbia governorate.
The fifth chapter deals with the problems of food Industries andthe future of Industrial development in AlGharbia governorate to determine the most important problems in governorate that food Industries suffer from, which may be an obstacle to the Industrial development in it.it also tried to develop suggested solutions to overcome these problem in addition to shedding light on the future of food Industries in the governorate by identifying the appropriate areas proposed for resettling new factories as well as the Industries proposed to be established there
